Normally this exploit can not be patched via software update. It is a semi-tethered jailbreak tool developed using unpatchable checkm8 bootrom exploit. Work is ongoing (on checkra1n) to support Windows, which will be added in a later release. With this release checkra1n team has reiterated its plans of releasing a Windows version of checkra1n as the change log includes the following note. Now they can at least install Linux on their PCs and use the checkra1n for Linux tool to jailbreak their devices, without having to wait for Windows tool to release or relying on a friend’s Mac.
